Meet Lorri

My name is Lorri Sibley. I have lived in the Yacolt area for the last 35 years. I have been married for 39 years and have a son age 27. I retired in June from my 32 year teaching position in Battle Ground, but I wanted to continue to serve this district and to make it stronger. My husband and I attend New Heights Church; I'm excited to finally have the time to get more involved there. My Christian faith is important to me and will help guide me.

I am a National Board Certified Teacher which is an honor which was earned through a rigorous process. Only 20% of teachers have earned this certifcation in Washington and 4% nationwide.

I have a lot of experience in what works in this district and what doesn't. As a long time BGEA member, serving in multiple capacities, I know the limits our district faces. I have served on our district and union contract negotiations team several times. This experience gave me an inside look into the budget and its limits.

Our community wants a stronger district; I do too. I know we have the best staff and students in the area. I want our community to know that! Our community needs to get involved in the school, so they can see the reality of what our teachers and students face. Once they are involved in the schools, they can provide educated feedback for us. I promise to listen.

I have a firm desire to improve student and staff safety on a day to day basis. Our schools need all the support to make that happen. We have some serious challenges facing us with a double levy failure. I am ready to meet that challenge and guide this district forward.
